Chief Executive Officer
Sean is Apex Environmental’s Chief Executive Officer. With over 30 years as a practising Occupational Hygienist and Exposure Scientist, Sean demonstrates his passion for his work in the many practitioners he mentors, committees he belongs to and conferences he presents at. During his tenure at the Apex Environmental, Sean has enjoyed tremendous success delivering ground-breaking and industry leading projects. With a plethora of expertise and accolades to his name, Sean strives to deliver service beyond excellence with the support of his team.
Sean holds an MPH in Occupational Hygiene from Wits University and is a Registered Occupational Hygienist and a Registered Senior Assessor at the SAIOH (Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene). Sean is also a Registered Chartered Member and serves on the technical (legal) committee at Saiosh (Southern African Institute for Safety and Health).
Sean specialises in Health Risk Assessments and Air Monitoring of worker and public exposure to airborne contaminants, pathogens, heat, indoor air quality, ventilation, ergonomics, vibration and noise. Sean is the Approved Training Provider for the International OHTA Courses which allows professionals to follow a path into specialising in Occupational Hygiene. Sean is also a qualified Asbestos Abatement Specialist and holds the international qualification as an Asbestos Fibre Counter.
Sean held the Chair of the Professional Certification Board of SAIOH for 2 years (2018 – 2020) and served on the SAIOH National Council over the same period. Sean has presented technical content at various National conferences including ODAM (international), DoEL and SAIOH.
Sean is an honorary lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health; Sean served on the national Department of Health’s and the KwaZulu-Natal provincial governments’ COVID-19 task teams during 2020.
