Air Monitoring, Inspection & Clearance (Asbestos removal projects)

The purpose of asbestos air monitoring is to assess potential asbestos exposures at the workplace in
order protect the health of employees, as well as ensure that you comply with the requirements of
the Asbestos Abatement Regulations, 2020, framed under the Occupational Health and Safety Act of
1993 (Act No 85 of 1993). Air and clearance monitoring results will be compared against the
stipulated Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) for asbestos fibres.

Monitoring Strategy:

  • A Minimum of 1 Inspection and Monitoring per week for the removal of Asbestos Cement
    Products (Type 2 Asbestos removal).
  • Daily Inspection and Monitoring for removal of Asbestos Insulation Material (Type 3
    Asbestos removal).
  • Clearance Monitoring and Inspection once all Asbestos Containing Material has been
    removed from site, including the skip.
